Aarø Camping
Opening hours: 01.01.2024 - 31.12.2024
Welcome to Aarø Camping
Are you looking for a place where you and your family can relax, play, fish, swim, enjoy nature, see pheasants, watch porpoises and enjoy various culinary delights as well as the island's very own beer and wine? Then it is time to head to Aarø!!!
The island together with the people here have enchanted us, Isabell and Dirk with little Joe, so much that we have broken camp in Germany in order to run the campsite here on Aarø.
At Aarø Camping you will find spacious campsites with lots of light and windprotected lots naturally bordered by bushes and shrubs, which provide much desired shade during the summer.
The campsite has been around for over 50 years and is built around a former farm. Our café (a former stable building) has a special flair - as, by the way, does the whole island.
As soon as the ferry docks in the small harbor, you get the feeling that the clocks on Aarø are running a little bit slower.
The first thing you see on Aarø is the small idyllic harbor where local fishermen as well as many sailing and motor boats are docked.
The island, 4 km long and 3 km wide, has about 150 inhabitants and is located just south of the mouth of Haderslev Fjord between Jylland and Fyn and is separated to the east by the 'Little Belt'.
The island was inhabited as early as the Stone Age, as verified by burial sites and long ancient dolmens.
For sport fishermen sea trout, flounder, cod and other types of fish can be found in the waters around the island (fishing permits can be purchased from us).
The favorable current and seabed conditions make the island a popular destination for sport fishermen.
We are looking forward to meeting you!
