Rules and laws

On the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration’s website, you can find all the information about traveling with pets in Denmark - see the rules here
When traveling with a cat, dog or ferret, it's important that they can be identified by a microchip. This must be done before the animal is 8 weeks old.
Leash requirement
When bringing your dog with you on holiday, it’s important to be aware of the following regulations:
-
On Danish beaches, the dog must be on a leash from April 1st until September 30th.

In the forest, there is a year-round leash requirement for dogs.
Be aware of vipers in the summer! Vipers are a protected animal in Denmark, they usually retreat when threatened, but in case of an accident, it’s important to go to the vet to get an antidote.
